He struggled in most social situations. He lashed out. He couldn’t manage or comply in school. We ran an autism play therapy programme for 5 years. We started small - 15 minutes a day, and eventually worked up to whole days with volunteer helpers we trained. Everything we did based on unconditional love and acceptance. The idea we can hope and dream for our child, and we don’t need to change a hair on their heads. Knowing we can have wants and be detached from the outcome, is a radical way to become happier and calmer in all areas of your life. It took energy and effort.
